New hot spot for trendy Hudson Square crowd - Real Estate Weekly

Restauranteur Georges Forgeois is set to open a new restaurant catering to the artsy Hudson Square crowd.
He will open Clarkson at Trinity Real Estate?s 225 Varick Street next month.

Forgeois, whose restaurant group includes Caf? Noir, Cercle Rouge, Jules, Le Singe Vert and Bar Tabac, signed a 15-year lease for the 3,700 s/f of ground floor space at the corner of Clarkson and Varick Streets.
Trinity Real Estate was represented in house by Tom Lynch and Peter Fontanetta while The Forgeois Group was represented by Richard J. Murdock of Spivey Realty Group Inc. and Perry Rothenberg of JDF Realty, Inc.
Food Network star Rebecca Weitzman will be the executive chef at Clarkson, which is slated to open for dinner on February 18.
Diners are likley to include workers from a fashionable local tenancy that includes Viacom, Tory Burch, 3.1 Philip Lim, Omnicom, WNYC New York Public Radio and New York Magazine.
Originally completed in 1926, 225 Varick Street sits between West Houston and Clarkson on the neighborhood?s northern boundary adjacent to the entrance to the #1 subway line.
The building?s lobby has been completed renovated and offers 24/7 tenant access, onsite management and state-of-the-art security.
The 12-story, approximately 377,000 s/f building is home to Thakoon, National Audubon Society and Workman Publishing. Retail tenants include New York Sports Club and HSBC. Retail asking rents in the building are in the mid $60s per square foot.
